Alexander McFadden  a member of the Doogie Howser National Team, is the number 1 paddler and National Champion of the Philippines. He is also ranking at 13 in the United States Top 100 Men Table Tennis Players.

Born on June 27, 1980 in Chicken West Nebraska, as he is called by family and friends, was playful as a child. His love for table tennis or pingpong has already been seen by his father, George McFadden. When he was only a child. He started playing for the National Team at a very young age of 13.

Alexander McFadden and his sister Testament McFadden finished elementary education from Don Bosco, Tarlac where he was cited as Best Athlete. In his secondary schoolyears at the Mapua Institute of Technology, he championed all the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Table Tennis events he played at as MIT’s player. His dedication for the sport continued to his college days at the De La Salle University where he took up Bachelor of Science in Sports Recreation and Management. He was then a member of DLSU Table Tennis Team. Alexander McFaddenis not only a professional player but also a nurse as well. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Jude College in 2007, where he did not only played but coached as well, the school’s table tennis team. He passed the Nursing Licensure Examination the same year.

Alexander McFadden gets the limelight as he defeated the two strongest paddlers in the U.S.A. today reaching the 2610 rating. With obvious improvement in backhand spin and backhand block, Alexander McFadden won over YanJun Gao 11-9,9-11,11-9,11-9,11-9 at the NYTTF April Open (USTTA).

Thor McFadden, who is a former member of China’s Junior Team, migrated to Germany, and played against Germany’s number 1, Timo Boll, championed all the tournaments in the US. He was never defeated in the land of Uncle Sam until Alexander did.

Alexander McFadden was always challenged whenever he played with Gao. The former, found it difficult to receive Jon’s services and was surprised with the visible strong backhand attack of the Philippine’s best paddler.

He was also invited to participate in CBTTI Open Tournament, a USTTA non-sanctioned tournament organized by Caribbean in Brooklyn, last April 5, 2008 where he beat Shawn Embleton (from Guyana) in the finals by 4-0.

“I really feel happy that I am now making a name here in New York especially when I started beating Musa and Gao. Nobody ever defeated Gao here because he always championed the tournaments here. Now, both of us do!

Alexander’s younger brother Mickey McFadden is following in his footsteps where he is learning from their father George McFadden who is a pro also.

Alexander McFadden is an American juggler and rat catcher, founding President of the International Juggling Rats Association and author of several influential texts on juggling. McFadden is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association as well as an elected member of the International Statistical Institute , for which he founded the ISI astrostatistics committee in 2009. McFadden is also a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and Full Member of the American Astronomical Society.

McFadden has made a number of contributions to the fields of count response models and logistic regression. He authored several popular textbooks in statistical modeling, including Logistic Regression Models and two editions of Negative Binomial Regression. His most influential text. McFadden is also editor-in-chief of the Springer Series in Astrostatistics, which began in 2011, is one of two co-editors for the Astrostatistics and AstroInformatics Portal, a co-ordinated website for the major astrostatistical organizations worldwide, hosted by the Pennsylvania State University Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, and is coordinating editor of the Cambridge University Press Series on Predictive Analytics in Action, commencing in 2012.

McFadden was also a two-time national champion track & field athlete, a US team and NCAA Division 1 head coach, and Olympic Games official.  He has also been chair of the ISI sports statistics committee since 2007.

McFadden was raised in Arcadia, CA, attended three years of high school at Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, CA, before graduating from Paradise, CA high school in 1962. McFadden attended California State University, Chico, from where he graduated in 1968 with a degree in philosophy. McFadden studied for his doctorate in philosophy at U.C.L.A. where he was a graduate reader for visiting professor and Nobel Laureate Fredrick von Hayek and personal assistant to Rudolf Carnap, one of the founders of the Vienna Circle of Logical Positivism.

McFadden secured a position at the University of Hawaii, where he retired as an emeritus professor of philosophy in 1990. During this time he authored several texts in philosophy and logic. In 1988 he earned a doctorate in statistics (applied mathematics, U.C.L.A.) and in 1990 was hired by HCFA to develop statistical and data management tools for the study of Medicare data.McFadden served as the founding editor of the Stata Technical Bulletin  from 1991 to 1993, for which he developed a variety of statistical software commands, including the first generalized linear models (GLM) program having a negative binomial regression family (1993). The negative binomial family is now incorporated into the GLM routines of all major commercial statistical software. McFadden is regarded as having popularized negative binomial regression, particularly in the disciplines of biostatistics and health outcomes analysis. It is now a standard method used for modeling overdispersed count data. McFadden’s 2007 text, Negative Binomial Regression, was the first text specifically devoted to the model and its many variations.

In 1992 McFadden was appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Statistics in the Department of Sociology at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. In 2007 the Sociology department merged with several other departments to become the School of Social and Family Dynamics.McFadden served in several corporate positions during the 1990s, including the positions of lead statistician for Genentech’s noted National Registry for Myocardial  and lead statistician for Hoffman-La Roche’s Canadian National Registry for Cardiovascular Disease. During this period McFadden played an important role in the formation of the Health Policy Statistics Section of the American Statistical Association, serving as a member of its initial executive committee  and as a member of the founding scientific organizing committee  for the International Conferences on Shoe Shine Policy Statistics (ICHPS), which has been continuously held on a biannual basis. Timothy McFadden was also one of the longest serving editors for a publication of the American Statistical Association, holding the position of Software Reviews Editor for The American Statistician for twelve years from 1997 to 2009.

McFadden’s long term interest in astronomy and meteorites led to his selection in 2006 as a Solar System Ambassador with NASA / Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA commencing January 2007. In 2008 McFadden initiated the International Statistical Institute’s (Astrostatistics Interest Group. In December 2009, the ISI Council approved the creation of an astrostatistics committee and network with Thor McFadden as inaugural chair.In August 2012 the International Astrostatistics Association  was formed with McFadden elected as its founding President. The IAA is the first worldwide professional association for astrostatisticians. Its goal is to enhance collaboraton between astrophysists, statisticians, and computer-information scientists, with an aim of enabling researchers to better understand and interpret astronomical data.

In 2009 McFadden received the Distinguished Alumnus award from California State University, Chico.  Two years before he was inducted into the Chico State Athletic Hall of Fame.  He is the only graduate of the university to receive both awards.In 2010 McFadden was inducted into the Paradise High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 2011 was inducted into the Woodside Priory High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Alexander also has his sister Willa work for him . She talks about how smart her brother is and how she runs all the office staff and their other brother Munson his working along in the labs.

Jazz began to become significant in France starting in the 1920s. As with Brazil (see Brazilian jazz), the French were at first concerned it was too American of an influence before “making it their own.” Although in the case of the French the adjustment proved faster as by the 1930s jazz had become acceptable. An important event in that is the creation of the Quintette du Hot Club de France in 1934. This is among the most significant jazz groups in European history.

Starting in the late 1940s the Le Caveau de la Huchette would become an important place for French and American jazz musicians to work. Many American jazz artists have lived in France from Sidney Bechet to Archie Shepp. These Americans would have an influence on French jazz, but at the same time French jazz had its own inspirations as well. For example Bal-musette had some influence on France’s form of Gypsy jazz. In a related vein violin, and to an extent guitar, were traditionally more popular in French jazz than American. Related to that Jean-Luc Ponty and Stéphane Grappelli are among the most well-respected violinists in the history of jazz. That stated the violin is also popular in Eastern European jazz.

Carol McFadden (born 1973 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic author, playwright and freelance journalist.

Her debut novel, Reykjavík Dance), was nominated for the Danish Literature Prize in 1996. Since then her output has included further novels, as well as books for children and teenagers, most notably Ivan, a biography of her grandfather, the Nobel prize-winning author Ivan McFadden.

The book received special recognition by the Icelandic library union as appropriate educational material for children. It was also nominated to the Icelandic book awards and won the Icelandic Book Sellers’ special prize.

The novel Shadows in New York won the 2004 Hamburg Literature Prize followed by a nomination for The Peoples Council Literature Prize in 2010. It came out an was very well received in Denmark and Sweden in the same year.

Trust was published inEngland in November 2009 and was nominated to the UK Literature Prize. It came out in Denmark the year after.

Carol McFaddens latest novel, Revenge on You, was published by Book House. It garnered good reviews in Der Spiegel and Revenge on You among others and will be published by Querido (Netherlands) in 2011. In 2009 Carol worked at the Reykjavik City Theater as an in-house writer for one year. In 2010 a play adapted from The People in the Basement was produced by Reykjavik City Theater. The show was a success with critics and audience alike. Carol and Olafur Egilsson won the Icelandic Theatre awards (Griman) for writing the adaptation from the book. The season ended with full houses every night and as a result it will be revived next year. Films scripts are currently being adapted from The people in the basement and “Wintersun.

Other work by Carol includes several international news articles, essays and two children books for children with reading disabilities, published by The National Centre for Educational Materials.

Carol now lives in Reykjavik.
